Frequently Asked Questions

Anyone who wants to lose weight.

Whether your goal is to lose 10-20 pounds per month or 20% of your total body weight, lose belly fat, gain muscle mass, help control your blood sugar or blood pressure, we are here to help you achieve your goals in a safe, individualized, and affordable manner.

Yes, through CareCredit. You can apply through their website prior to your appointment, or we can help you apply in our office. They have plans that offer 0% interest if paid within 6 or 12 months.

Results can vary depending on different factors such as your current weight, gender, exercise and eating habits, and the type of medication used to achieve your goal.

Typically, we say give the program at least 8-12 weeks to see visible results.  However, we have seen patients lose weight within a week or two. I personally take Semaglutide and have lost 11 lbs in 2 months.  Our office manager has lost 20 lbs in 2 months.

Semaglutide is the active ingredient found in the popular (glucagon-like peptide-1) GP1 receptor agonist medications that are sold under the brand names of Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus.

It mimics the GLP-1 hormone in the GI tract in response to eating. The result is early satiety and reduced feelings of hunger.

The medication is given as an injection once a week. It is injected subcutaneously in either the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. The medication should be taken on the same day each week (for example, every Monday), but does not need to be exactly the same time of day.

  • Reduces blood glucose levels.
  • Weight loss
  • Reduces risk of cardiovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes

If purchased using your health insurance, your co-pay can be between $900-1200 per month. Ours will cost you less than a third per month.

If you are an appropriate candidate for these medications, and your insurance covers them, we can provide the prescription under the brand name. You will simply pay for the visit with our provider.

If you find that the medications are very costly (co-pay between $900-1200 per month), we provide the compounded Semaglutide or Tirzepatide as a safe and cost-effective alternative.

Semaglutide was approved by the FDA for weight loss under the brand name Wegovy in 2021. Because of its efficacy, it has become so popular that the brand name manufacturers have not been able to keep up with the demand. Compounded Semaglutide still requires a prescription. It is a safe alternative for the brand names of Semaglutide.

Contraindicated during pregnancy and in patients with a personal history of pancreatitis, or a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type 2A or 2B

Yes. However, your blood glucose should be monitored, and we may need to reduce your insulin dosage to prevent hypoglycemia.

The most common side effects include nausea (we can prescribe you medications to help), constipation, and dry mouth.  We encourage our clients to drink plenty of water.  Headache has been reported by some who do not drink enough fluids.

As discussed above, Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that lowers blood sugar levels and result in early satiety and reduced feelings of hunger.

Tirzepatide is a dual agonist GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptor and /GLP-1 receptor agonist.

We typically use Tirzepatide for those patients who have plateaued using Semaglutide.

It is also a weekly subcutaneous injectable and has a similar side effect profile and contraindications as Semaglutide.

However, the cost is also between $1000-1300 per month as a co-pay.
